The Green Party of New York State blasted the suspicious cover-up tactics of New York Attorney General Eliot Spitzer (photo, right) regarding mid-February's crucial Able Danger hearings on Capitol Hill.
New York State Green Party Co-Chair Ian Wilder said, "Eliot Spitzer must explain why, according to media reports, Spitzer barred his top aide, Deputy Attorney General Dietrich Snell, from testifying to the Congressional hearings on Able Danger."
Able Danger was the Pentagon's terrorist tracking operation, which recently reported they knew about Mohamed Atta in early 2000, but experienced suppression of their testimony by the 9/11 Commission. According to February 15th's New York Post, "Attorney General Eliot Spitzer personally intervened with a congressional panel to get a top aide out of testifying at an explosive hearing on pre-9/11 intelligence failures... the House Armed Services Committee had requested testimony of Deputy Attorney General Dietrich Snell -- a former top investigator with the 9/11 commission -- at a hearing today on 'Able Danger.'"
After 9/11, Democrats such as Eliot Spitzer and Republicans such as Dick Cheney collaborated by not finding, and not punishing any perpetrators of the attacks. Democrats and Republicans collaborated in ignoring numerous leads that citizens groups point out could expose who was behind 9/11, and who funded 9/11. By his inaction, Spitzer showed whose side he is on.
Author Peter Lance is a five-time Emmy award-winning journalist. In his 2004 book "Cover Up: What the Government is Still Hiding About the War on Terror" (Regan Books) he asks the burning question about Spitzer's top aide, Dietrich Snell, "Under objective circumstances, Snell would have made an important witness before the Commission. But in the heavily-conflicted world of the Commission staff, he was hired to be one of its senior attorneys and team leaders."
Snell prosecuted the 1993 World Trade Center bombing mastermind Ramzi Yousef. But the 1995 trial transcript was mysteriously sealed, until 1998. Once unsealed, it was revealed that Al Qaeda leader, Khalid Sheikh Mohammed (aka KSM), who was a major figure in the '93 bombing, had his name kept out of the entire 6,000 page, Yousef trial transcript. KSM, Yousef's uncle, was the "principal architect" of 9/11, according to the 9/11 Commission. But according to Peter Lance, Dietrich Snell "was one of the fixers, hired early on to sanitize the Commission's final report."
In 2004, according to a Zogby Poll, 66% of the people of New York State wanted their Attorney General, Eliot Spitzer, to launch a real investigation into 9/11. Spitzer did nothing.
Sander Hicks, a published author on the 9/11 attacks and a Green Party member, said, "Spitzer is currently the front-runner in New York's 2006 Governor's race. But this will change, as the progressive mainstream in New York State realizes that Spitzer does not reflect our common values: Spitzer is pro-war, pro-death-penalty, and pro-cover up. Spitzer is a big-money Democrat, and the Able Danger cover-up helps New York voters see his true colors."
