Healy announces write-in candidacy

Peter Healy, one of the founders of the New Paltz Green Party and a former Ulster County Legislature candidate, Saturday announced that he will run for the legislature again next month, this time as a write-in candidate.

Healy said he is running countywide, “because in most of the 12 legislative districts there is either no opposition at all, as in New Paltz and Marbletown, or only token opposition, as in Marlboro and Woodstock and the City of Kingston.”

Healy said he is running county-wide because he believes legislators should be elected county-wide.

He is a former legislative candidate, having run as a green, with Democratic and Independence Party endorsements in 1997 and 2001.
